Our Friends in the Congo

Two missionaries that are friends of the church have written their stories for us Carol Seymour and Ginny Perkins - Read their stories and see if God is speaking to you?

Carol and Ginny's current ministry includes:

Prison work: this started in Kamina, but now in the south, the ministry includes 4 prisons. This is a very fruitful ministry with many prisoners accepting Jesus as Saviour. A good number go into full time work for the Lord. Often those with charms etc will give them up to be burnt as they accept Jesus into their lives.

Camp for displaced people Work among displaced people : The war that started in 1998 has brought over 80,000 displaced people to Lubumbashi. Many arrived totally empty handed and we endeavour to help them spiritually and practically. In some camps churches have been started. Schools have also been started in some camps and some small time industries such as bread making and tailoring have been established.

Jesus Village Evangelism among the Balamba: through evangelists going out on bikes to the Balamba tribe, many have been reached with the gospel and their lives have been dramatically changed. In 2003 we started with 10 bikes. The number is now over 100. The Balamba people tend to live in remote areas and are often involved in witchcraft and drunkenness and are very lazy. As the gospel is penetrating, so their life style is being radically changed. In the village of Mwamba, for example, both the chief and his wife have accepted Jesus as Saviour and the village has now been re-named the Jesus village. In other Balamba villages schools have now been started.

carol seymourMedia work: One half an hour weekly TV programme and two weekly Radio programmes have brought very encouraging results. The programmes are called Victory in Jesus and we’ve seen His victory over sin, sickness, problems and so on. At least 6 churches have started as a result of this ministry. Other testimonies include the blind seeing, the lame walking, and marriages being restored.
